VIBRATION SENSORS FOR CEMENT PRODUCTION

Industrial accelerometers, 4-20mA transmitters and loop powered vibration sensors and systems for use in kiln drives, crushers, screens, conveyor belts, raw mills, elevators, separators and blowers.

VIBRATION MONITORING FOR CEMENT MANUFACTURE

Cement manufacturing is one of the most demanding industrial environments, with high concentrations of dust, extremes of temperature and severe mechanical stresses on operating equipment. In particular, the commonly produced Portland cement causes contamination at all stages of production, from the procurement and milling of raw materials to final packing and loading.

This tough operating environment means that techniques such as condition monitoring and predictive maintenance are especially important, with vibration monitoring being a key tool used by process, plant and maintenance engineers.

At Hansford Sensors we manufacture a full range of vibration sensors to help your business meet the challenges of monitoring and maintaining a wide range of machines used in all types of cement production systems.

Selecting the best accelerometer or vibration sensor for kiln drives, crushers, screens,

conveyor belts, raw mills, elevators, separators and blowers, depends on a number of factors. These include:

  • Availability of the plant
  • Cost of breakdown
  • Criticality of the machine/impact on the production process
  • Access to machine, guarding, health and safety implications
  • Environmental factors

We can provide solutions for both online and offline monitoring, with all our industrial accelerometers being designed for use in the toughest environments, including hazardous areas.

INDUSTRIAL ACCELEROMETERS & SYSTEMS FOR CEMENT PRODUCTION

Our HS-100 AC accelerometers, connected to PLC monitoring and control devices via sealed local junction boxes, are used widely in many of the world’s leading cement plants. This allows each accelerometer to be used for real time monitoring, alarm and critical data analysis.

Our product range also includes HS-100I industrial accelerometers certified to the latest ATEX (IECEx) standards while for use with conveyors and other equipment running at under 60Hz, we offer high sensitivity HS-100 sensors with 500 mV/g outputs; this improves the signal to noise ratio.

Our 4-20mA vibration sensors and 0-25 mm/s RMS velocity sensors (HS-420 Series) are designed for connection to PLC (programmable logic controller) or similar systems.  This is an ideal solution for monitoring imbalance on rotating fan and motor shafts.  Similarly, our 0-2g RMS acceleration 4-20 mA sensor (HS-422 Series) offers an excellent option to protect conveyors between routine surveys.

Cement Lorry at Plant

For applications such as crushers, screens, conveyor pulleys and drives, and where access is restricted, we provide side-entry and low profile accelerometers. These sensors are also ideal for areas where debris or dust would otherwise affect the performance of a top entry device. For equipment located in sumps or containment ponds we offer a choice of fully submersible vibration sensors.

Options for all our accelerometers for cement production include armoured or braided cable, plus quick release 2 Pin MS connectors, IP66 and IP68 cable assemblies, and stainless steel enclosures.

Typical solutions include:

  • HS-100 Series general purpose 100mV/g AC vibration sensors
  • HS-420 4-20mA vibration transmitters for remote data monitoring
  • HS-100F low frequency sensor for slow rotating machinery
  • HS-500 vibration modules for local display and alarm function
  • HS-SE local switch and connection boxes
  • HS-100I intrinsically safe accelerometers
