Hansford Sensors, the leading global manufacturer of high performance industrial accelerometers, is continuing its sponsorship of British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) racing driver Tom Ingram and the Speedworks Motorsport team for the fifth year in a row, as the team’s main sponsor.
Ingram enjoyed his most successful BTCC period to date in 2017, finishing a stunning season of racing in third place. The three-time Ginetta champion secured a win in last season’s opener at Brands Hatch, before adding triumphs at Donington, Knockhill and Silverstone to clinch the Independent Drivers’ Trophy.
In recognition of his outstanding performance, Ingram was voted the series’ ‘Best Driver’ by team bosses in a post season poll. Ingram has one goal on his mind ahead of the 2018 season: building upon the impressive progress he and Speedworks made last year, with the aim of clinching the most coveted crown in national racing – the BTCC Drivers’ Championship.
Hansford Sensors’ sponsorship has enabled Ingram to make significant performance enhancements to his Toyota Avensis during the off-season. The sponsorship will provide great support for the team, at what is widely regarded as the world’s most fierce tin-top competition.
“We’ve been sponsoring Tom since his early Ginetta days and are proud to continue that support as he now aims to clinch the BTCC title. 2017 was Tom’s best season to date in the BTCC and if his performances then are anything to go by, the new season could well be his year!” said Chris Hansford, Managing Director of Ingram’s main sponsor, Hansford Sensors.
“We wish him and the Speedworks team the best of luck for the season ahead. It looks set to be another extremely exciting season.”
Commenting on Hansford Sensors’ continued sponsorship, Ingram said: “I must pay tribute to the vital ongoing support of Hansford Sensors, without whom none of this would have been possible. I’m looking forward to the 2018 season. I believe we’ve got a great chance to be in the running for the BTCC Drivers’ crown.”
2018 marks a special year for the British Touring Car Championship, as it will be celebrating its 60th anniversary. The season launches on Tuesday 27th March, with the first race of the season taking place at Brands Hatch on 7-8 April 2018. Every race of the campaign will be shown live on UK television on ITV4.
